SAICE awards are an annual event  done in to honor individuals/companies who have rendered outstanding services to the civil engineering profession  or made contribution of distinction, promote the practice and development of excellence in civil engineering in the built environment and give recognition to well-engineered civil engineering projects.

 The Global engineering and infrastructre advisory firm Aurecon scooped three awards. The firm was awarded the "transportation Engineering Awards for their involvement in the construction of the Siphofeni Bridge as well as the Project Manager of the year and Young Civil Engineer of the year'' award.
Congratulations are in order for every winner and for SAICE recognizing the hard work and dedication of  the South African civil engineering industry.

The DTT IS television broadcasted on land and not on satalite and is digital; explained William Stucke the ICT Consultant. This set up box and satalite will be for sale but the government also has an ownership incentive programme for people who will not be able to afford. The process of getting the DTT will be to register and get the set up box free of charge. SAIEE: Women in male dominated industries

 Nokukhanya@varsitytv.co.za  Twitter: @nokhumanjoms August is of course women's month, and what better way to celebrate then women empowering each other.  The South African Institute of electrical Engineers (SAIEE) held a function of which was hosted Michelle Govender a professional engineer who works for ESKOM holdings and is a member of SAIEE, explained how women must work twice as harder than men, how you must always strive for the top and always be productive if they are in male dominated industry.  Co-host Tshegofatso Cornelius also touched base on the 1956 march against unjust laws by women who marched to the Pretoria Union Buildings and helped established women as part of the apartheid democratic movement. SAICE: Avant-Garde Forum 2017

                  Nokukhanya@varsitytv.co.za Twitter: @nokhumanjoms The SAICE Avant-garde forum means the grouping that is primarily involved with the advancement of its field of expertise, mainly through the unorthodox or experimental methods. The forum showcases young professionals giving an overview of the projects that they are involved in, with the focus of the presentation looking at what they contributed for the project to become a  success. Which is what happened in August the forum had a group of professionals and took a look on a variety of projects presented by of-course young  professional who put in the work and share their walks also take  questions from the attendees. Presentations were delivered by the likes of Sbongile Gumbi who is an environmental scientist, Kirsten Milne a civil engineer by profession and Sisanda Dyubhele a technologist in pavement design.
